Omni Willig Carbon GmbH, a joint venture of Kurt Willig GmbH & Co. KG with Omni Tanker Pty Ltd. from Australia, was awarded the Prize for innovations of the German paper Gefahr/gut for its ultralight and high stable CFRP tanks.
In a patented production process polyethylene (PE) and carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRB) are combined into an especially resistant and however light material. The CFRP tanks are versatile, optimize the payloads significantly and convince with its long durability. The transportation of hazardous goods or liquid bulk becomes safer and more economical. These tanks are the first CFRP tanks to have been tested and passed in line with ADR chapter 6.9.
Every year (since 2003) one company that has developed a technical or logistical solution (that improves the safety of dealing with dangerous goods) is honored by the hazardous/goods-editor. The board of specialists of the magazine consists of 16 experts from chemistry, transportation, education, consulting, trade, organizations and authorities.
The award was traditionally presented as part of the 28th Munich Gefahrguttage to Karlheinz Stern (managing director of Omni Willig Carbon GmbH) and Andreas Gillner (managing director of Kurt Willig GmbH & Co. KG) on the 07th of May.
After the expo PetroTrans Innovation Award 2016 and the JEC Innovation Award 2017 this is already the third prize for innovation for Omni Willig Carbon GmbH.
